Arrange your monitors/displays
Note: Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary hardware (monitors, cables, and compatible graphics card) and your monitors are connected to your computer.
1. Connect Your Monitors: Ensure that your monitors are properly connected to your computer. Most computers support multiple monitors through different ports like HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA.
2. Detect Displays:
1. Right-click on the desktop and select "Display settings."
2. Scroll down and find the "Multiple displays" section.
3. Click the drop-down menu and choose "Duplicate," "Extend," or "Second screen only" based on your preference.
- Duplicate: Mirrors your primary display on both screens.
- Extend: Extends your desktop across multiple monitors, effectively giving you more screen space.
- Second screen only: Disables your primary display and uses only the secondary display.
3. Identify Monitors: In the "Display settings" window, you'll see icons representing your monitors. Each icon corresponds to a physical monitor. You can click on the "Identify" button to display numbers on each monitor, which makes it easier to identify them.
4. Adjust Display Order: Click and drag the monitor icons to rearrange them according to your physical setup. This step helps align the on-screen displays with your actual monitor positions. For example, if your secondary monitor is on the left, drag it to the left of the primary monitor icon.
5. Set Primary Monitor: Windows 10 designates one monitor as the primary display. The primary monitor is where the taskbar appears, and applications typically open on this screen. To set a primary monitor:
1. Click on the monitor you want to set as the primary display.
2. Scroll down and check the box that says "Make this my main display."
