Add a network printer by IP on a Mac
- To add the printer to your list of available printers: Choose Apple menu
> System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners
in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
- Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax button on the right, click
, then enter the printer information using the following table as a guide.

Protocol: HP Jetdirect – Socket
Queue: (leaving it blank)
Name: (GIVE THE PRINTER A NAME) Example: EISEN_2ndFL_MRKTNG_HPCLJM750
Location: (GIVE THE LOCATION OF THE PRINTER) Example: Eisenhower 2nd FL Marketing
Use: Select Software, then select your printer in the Printer Software list. If the Printer Software list doesn’t include your printer, try downloading and installing the printer software (also called a printer driver) from the printer manufacturer. You can also try choosing generic postscript or PCL printer software from the pop-up menu, depending on your type of printer.
